Student Election Workers
Become a Student Election Worker
Are you a high school student age 16 or older? Want to be a part of the democratic process and gain meaningful work experience?
Student Election Workers assist voters and election officials at polling places across Santa Fe County. It’s a hands-on, meaningful way to learn about elections, serve your community, and strengthen your leadership skills.
Who Can Apply?
- Must be at least 16 years old on Election Day
- Must be a U.S. citizen and New Mexico resident
- Must have written permission from a parent/guardian and your school
Duties May Include:
- Greeting and assisting voters
- Checking in voters and issuing ballots
- Helping set up and close the polling place
- Serving as an election day translator, if qualified
Why Participate?
- Election day pays a $350.00 daily flat rate + a $50.00 training stipend
- Get a behind-the-scenes look at elections
- Build your resume and civic leadership skills
Training Includes:
- 4-hour mandatory training
- a short online training video on your own time
