The Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) adopted Resolution No. 2022-031, directing the County Manager to establish a working group to analyze and make recommendations concerning an educational program and possible ordinance discouraging the use of single-use plastic and polystyrene products in Santa Fe County at its regular meeting on May 10, 2022. 

The Single-Use Plastics and Polystyrene Working Group (SUPPWG) consists of County staff and community partners and organizations and is tasked with developing conensus on an educational effort to encourage County residents to reduce their use of single-use plastic and polystyrene products and, if deemed appropriate, to develop the details of any proposed ordinance, and to perform analysis and make recommendations to the BCC.
