Santa Fe County invites the community to celebrate “El Dia de San Isidro: Blessing of the River†today at 5:30 PM at the San Isidro Church (3552 Agua Fria St.). TheVillage of Agua Fria once depended upon the Santa Fe River to grow crops for their families and to sell in the city. The blessing of the fields and river was an annual event.
Following Mass, there will be a procession, with the banner of San Isidro leading the processional, from the church to the river at the San Ysidro Crossing. Father Frank Pretto will bless the river and seeds handed out to the community. Commissioner Virginia Vigil will provide a brief history of the river restoration project.
After the Blessing, there will be refreshments at the Nancy Rodriguez Community Center in Agua Fria (#1 Prairie Dog Loop, next to La Familia).
