On March 12, 2024, the Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) approved Resolution No. 2024-035, authorizing the free disposal of green waste for county residents with a valid solid waste permit at the Stanley, Jacona, and Eldorado Convenience Centers on Friday, July 5 (8:00am-5:00pm) and Saturday, July 6 (8:00am,-5:00pm), 2024.
“Green waste” is defined as yard waste, lawn clippings, leaves, shrubs, and tree trimmings. Green waste does not include: weeds, cholla cacti, root balls, tree stumps, tree trunks greater than 18 inches in diameter, pet waste, rocks, dirt/soil (clean or contaminated), household waste, litter, plastic bags, metal, plastic, pallets, palm fronds, lumber or any type of treated wood (this includes plywood, sheetrock, and chipboard), and any constructed or demolition materials.
