Commissioner Harry Montoya (District 1) invites Santa Fe County residents to the Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the recently completed County Road 84 Low Water Crossing project.
The event occurs on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 1:30pm. The ceremony will be held at the “low water crossing” located on County Road 84 in Pojoaque. For more information or directions prior to the event contact, Robert Martinez, (505)992-3010
The project was completed on March 5, 2010 with $800,000 that was funded by the General Obligation Bond approved by Santa Fe voters in 2008.
In 2007, Phase 1 of the project was completed utilizing $200,000 of legislative appropriation provided by Speaker Ben Lujan.
This structure is situated in the Tesuque River upstream from the Pojoaque River junction. During normal flows of the Tesuque River, the low water crossing prohibited vehicle travel through the waterway. During the winter time, the crossing often became icy.
“The accessibility and safety for the community is of utmost importance, now County Road 84 will have access regardless of the weather condition and during normal river flow, “said Commissioner Harry Montoya.
