SANTA FE, NM – In honor of the eight Pueblo Nations and Indigenous people from diverse sovereign nations that thrive within our community, Santa Fe County announces the closure of its administrative offices on Monday, October 9, 2023, in observance of Indigenous People’s Day. All County offices will resume regular hours on Tuesday, October 10.
The closure aligns with the customary closure of the Solid Waste Convenience Centers on Mondays as well as the temporary closure of senior centers. Extra home delivered meals will be provided to seniors who receive those services prior to the closure. Essential services provided by Public Safety will continue as usual.
Indigenous Peoples’ Day offers our community an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing struggles of Indigenous people of this land and to celebrate the resiliency to maintain their thriving cultures and values that Indigenous people add to the County and country.
Santa Fe County takes this opportunity to encourages residents, businesses, organizations, and public institutions to celebrate and honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day as a form of solidarity with Indigenous communities and support their ongoing struggle for self-determination, cultural preservation, and social justice.
