73% Turnout for General Election

Santa Fe County Clerk, Valerie Espinoza, announced today that about 73% of the 97,600 registered voters in Santa Fe County actually voted in the General Election.  “Santa Fe County has some of the most politically active residents in the nation and they are to be commended for being a model of voter participation” said Espinoza “I appreciate the hard work put in by residents serving at all eighty six precincts, the temporary employees assisting in the historic Early and Absentee voting process, and my staff in the Records and Elections department,” said Espinoza.

The two divisions in the County Clerk’s Office – Records and Elections – served extra hours with no weekends off during many weeks before the November 4 Election Day.  They also trained hundreds of County residents who staffed all 86 precincts, from Edgewood to Chimayo, La Cienega to Glorieta, and all the precincts in between on Election Day.
