Aamodt Public Outreach Meetings Seek Community Participation
Santa Fe – February 24, 2010 –Aamodt public outreach meetings are scheduled to begin today. The meetings will discuss the Aamodt case, settlement and proposed Regional Water System.
Community members are invited to attend one of the 10 scheduled meetings to provide input.
“The outreach meetings should be a remarkable communication outlet for all parties to openly converse the settlement and outcome, as well as obtain information,” said Commissioner Harry Montoya.
The Joe M Stell Ombudsman Program of the Utton Center at the UNM School of Law will host the Aamodt public outreach meetings. Darcy Bushnell, of the Ombudsman Program will be conducting the sessions. Judge Michael Nelson and several of the settlement parties will also attend.
All meetings will be from 6 pm to 8 pm. Refreshments served, hosted by the Stell Ombudsman Program. Space is limited. To sign up call (505) 277-0551 or (877) 775-8333.

The Settlement Agreement is available for review on the Office of the State Engineer website at www.ose.state.nm.us under “Hot Topics.”
The Aamodt adjudication is the longest-running lawsuit in the federal court system and will determine the quantity and priority date of all water rights in the Nambe-Tesuque-Pojoaque basin.
