Aamodt Settlement Public Meeting April 19

Santa Fe – April 18, 2011 - The parties to the Aamodt Settlement Agreement will hold a public meeting Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the State Capitol in room 307 to discuss the Aamodt Settlement, which was recently approved by Congress. All individuals involved in the adjudication are encouraged to attend the meeting.

“It is essential for the parties to conduct these open meetings to ensure that transparency is being addressed,” said Santa Fe County Commissioner Daniel Mayfield.

The parties will provide an overview of the agreement implementation process including discussion of required agreements needed to proceed with the settlement. Additionally, proposed changes to the settlement agreement needed to conform to federal legislation will also be discussed. Time will be allotted during the meeting to address questions from attendees.

The settlement parties will conduct similar additional monthly meetings to update all individuals involved in the settlement and to provide information. According to Commissioner Mayfield, “It is critical that residents involved in and affected by the settlement have an opportunity to voice their comments. I urge those interested to attend these important meetings.”

The implementation process will include the establishment of a board for the regional water system and planning for construction of the water delivery system.

Santa Fe County will post upcoming meeting dates on the county’s website. Agendas and information can be accessed at www.santafecountynm.gov. The agenda for the April 19, 2011 meeting can be found at www.santafecountynm.govby clicking on the April 19, 2011 event listed on the website.
