Santa Fe – April 14, 2010 – Below is a summary of the actions taken by the Santa Fe Board of County Commissioners:

Sheriff Greg Solano recognized the retirements of Ted Padilla, Vernon Naranjo and Marco Lucero and praised their service and dedication.

Proclamations recognized the Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year, Michael Briceno and the Junior Youth of the Year, Mariana Grijeda

Buckman Direct Diversion Project Director Rick Carpenter gave a project report with slides of the facility as building proceeds. The BDD will provide an additional source of water to alleviate the mining of groundwater and will help bring back the Santa Fe River as a living waterway. Total cost of the project is $217 million, and they are on schedule and on budget. For further information visit www.bddproject.org

By Consent:

Community Funds: By unanimous [5-0] voice vote the Commission approved the following expenditures:

· $248 – Santa Cruz Irrigation District

· $1000 – Conservation Overlay Map

· $500 – Santa Fe Farmers Market Institute

· $500 – Women’s Health Services, National Women’s Health Week – Spread the Health Santa Fe

Final Orders:By unanimous [5-0] voice vote final orders were approved for the following cases:

Paul Parker Master Plan
Santa Fe Opera Master Plan Extension
Santa Fe Studios Master/Preliminary Development Plan, Phase I
 

Matters from the Commission

An update was given on activities planned for National Counties Month/Healthy Counties Month. There will be a training calendar for County employees and two health fairs with screenings.

Publication of Title and General Summary:

Renewable Energy Ordinance to include the Town of Edgewood and the City of Santa Fe, publication was unanimously approved

Solid Waste Ordinance to increase fees was tabled pending drafting of the ordinance

Emergency Moratorium Ordinance, Publication Of Title And General Summary was approved by a majority [3-2] voice vote. In anticipation of the upcoming Sustainable Land Development Plan and Code, (SLDP) Commissioner Holian proposed an Interim Emergency Development Moratorium. Details as to who would be affected remain to be decided. The earliest estimated completion date for the new SLDP would be in the fall of 2010. The proposed ordinance will come back for Public Hearing next month.

Sandstone Pines Estates Preliminary & Final Approval – Tabled unanimously

New Mexico Boys & Girls Ranch Master Plan Zoning – Tabled unanimously
