August 28, 2012 BCC Summary

Below is a summary of the actions taken by the Santa Fe Board of County Commissioners (BCC). All five Commissioners were present.

The BCC approved the July 19, 2012 Joint City/County Meeting minutes

Consent Calendar was approved

Proclamations

  • A Proclamation was approved recognizing Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, (PFLAG) for their support of higher education opportunities for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Young Adults.
  • A Proclamation honoring Consuelo “Connie” Hernandez on her 87th birthday and acknowledgment of her many accomplishments and contributions in our community was approved.

Presentations

  • Lisa Griego was recognized for her years of service upon her retirement.
  • The 2012 Santa Fe County Fire Fighter Career Academy and 2012 Santa Fe County Fire Fighter Volunteer Academy graduates were recognized and congratulated. A presentation, feedback and input from community members of La Cienega and La Cieneguilla on various projects was given.

Public Works Department

  • An update on the planning, development and current work at La Bajada Ranch was given.
  • An amended Resolution to establish a steering committee for the purpose of creating and submitting alternatives to the BCC for developing La Bajada Ranch was approved.
  • The BCC approved Change Order Number 15 to the contract with Bradbury Stamm Construction, Inc. to include Photovoltaic Solar System Installation in the construction of the First Judicial Courthouse Project in the amount of $350,593.55, exclusive of Gross Receipts Tax (GRT). Staff noted this system installation would put offset approximately 15 percent of the electricity used by the Courthouse.

Matters From The County Manager

  • A review and discussion of the monthly Financial Report for the month ending July 31, 2012, Construction Project Report, Human Resources Report and Corrections Monthly report was given to the BCC.
