Brief Summary

County Wins Award From Economic Development Department– Santa Fe County was awarded recertification from the New Mexico Economic Development Department as a Certified Community.  The Certified Community Initiative is a program to encourage diverse business and employment opportunities.  The County is recognized for developing and adopting planning strategies and regulations that provide diverse, stable, career-oriented employment opportunities for all citizens including youth and senior citizens.

Courthouse Design Approved– The Commission approved the latest design of the Courthouse with positive comments from Mayor Coss and Historic Board Chair, Sharon Woods.  The project now begins the next phase.

Transit Tax– A new ordinance will be proposed authorizing a County Regional Transit Gross Receipts Tax.  The tax will help to offset expenses for the Rail Runner.  Public hearings on the ordinance will occur in the next month.
