Be Thankful, take a Cab Ride Home

Santa Fe County DWI Program Cab Ride Home Service Provided for Thanksgiving Holiday

The day to give thanks is Thursday, but the day to take the Cab Ride Home (438-0000) is Wednesday.  The Santa Fe County DWI Program is offering a subsidized $5 a Cab Ride Home for one or two riders and $10 a cab for three or more on Wednesday, November 25 and Thursday, November 26 (Thanksgiving Day) from 5:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.  The number to call is 505-438-0000.

The subsidized Cab Ride Home service is offered Friday and Saturday nights and select holidays from 5:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Crash and arrest data show this is typically when more drunk drivers are on the road.  The Cab Ride Home program, along with a concerted public awareness campaign to remind people to not drink and drive, and enhanced and coordinated law enforcement activity are shown to be effective in lowering drunken driving crashes and fatalities.

The Santa Fe County DWI Program subsidizes the Cab Ride Home Program with funds generated by the New Mexico Liquor Excise Tax. The Program is thankful for the thousands who chose to take a cab instead of getting behind the steering wheel and driving under the influence of alcohol each year.

Celebrate Thanksgiving by NOT drinking and driving.  The Santa Fe County DWI Program wants everybody to Think SaFe, don’t drink and drive.  Take a Cab Ride Home instead.  Take a moment to remember that TwoTooMany means that you could lose your car to forfeiture when arrested a second time after at least one DWI conviction.
