Camino de Jacobo Landscaping Project Update

Santa Fe, NM – December 15, 2011 - Santa Fe County started Phase II and III of the Camino de Jacobo Landscaping Project. The Camino de Jacobo Landscaping project was designed to incorporate a regional landscaped environment, while providing outdoor areas for gathering and promoting community. The first Phase of the project is complete, which included the installation of an underground sprinkler system, a shade structure, picnic table and bench and other items. During this phase there was 16 different types of orchard and fruit trees planted, ground cover and shrubs were also planted.

Phase II and III will include the construction of the Entrada Plazuela (an outside gathering space for residents). During Phase II and III additional items such as a shade structure, picnic tables, benches, trash receptacles, kitchen gardens, trees and shrubs will be installed. The estimated project completion date is March 2012.

 “An exciting item during the next two phases include three kitchen gardens which residents will maintain. The kitchen gardens will provide a great gathering area where residents can take full advantage of the new fruit trees, picnic tables and all the new landscape,” said Dodi Salazar, Executive Director of Housing Operations.

Sites Southwest for Landscape Architectural Design Services provided the architectural designed services for the project and the construction of the project is being done by Westwind Landscape Construction.
