Chimayo Community Plan: Open Houses on February 12 and February 15

Santa Fe, NM – February 10, 2014– Santa Fe County, Rio Arriba County and the Chimayò Community Planning Committee invite all who are interested in the Chimayo Community Plan to attend an open house at the La Arboleda Community Center (694 State Road 76), Wednesday, February 12 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. or Saturday, February 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to review plan progress and provide feedback and input.

We have been working on the plan for almost two years and would like to share information on trends and key issues in Chimayò as well as seek feedback and input on plan objectives, strategies and project recommendations. The intent of the community plan is to guide future land use and development in the Chimayo area and describe projects, programs and implementation strategies for addressing community needs.

The community open houses are a critical opportunity to make sure that plan recommendations reflects community values. We hope that Chimayò community members will join us at one of the two community open houses. Topics that will be addressed at the open houses include:

Watershed RestorationAgriculture and AcequiasHistoric and Cultural PreservationHomes and NeighborhoodsRoads, Bridges, Bicyclists and WalkersCommunity Facilities and Mixed-Use DevelopmentCommunity Health, Safety and Crime PreventionCommunity Organization

The plan area includes the community of Chimayo situated in Santa Fe and Rio Arriba Counties as well as much of the surrounding land managed by the Bureau of Land Management.
