Clean Up of Courthouse Site to Begin in November
Santa Fe County and the New Mexico Environment Department will begin cleaning up gasoline contamination at the Judge Steve Herrera Judicial Courthouse site in November. The Environment Department will be heading up remediation of the site and is working closely with the County to ensure a safe and thorough removal of contamination. Construction is scheduled to resume in March of 2010 and slated to be completed in early 2012. Environmental remediation and construction will be occurring simultaneously.
Initial remediation costs are estimated at about $3 million. At this point, including estimated clean up costs, the County Courthouse project remains within budget.
