Santa Fe, NM- The Santa Fe County Office of Emergency Management is pleased to announce the release of its updated Hazard Mitigation Plan, now available for public review and comment. This critical plan outlines strategies and actions aimed at reducing the long-term risks to life and property from natural and human-made disasters. The County invites all residents, business owners, and stakeholders to participate in the public comment period to ensure the plan reflects the community's needs and priorities. 

Key Areas of the Plan Include: 

• Risk Assessment: Evaluating the likelihood and potential impact of various hazards, including wildfires, floods, droughts, and more. 
• Mitigation Strategies: Identifying projects and initiatives aimed at reducing risk and enhancing community resilience. 
• Community Involvement: Encouraging local participation and collaboration to ensure the plan addresses the diverse needs of Santa Fe County's population. 
• Implementation and Maintenance: Establishing a framework for the ongoing review and adaptation of the plan to meet evolving challenges and opportunities. 

The County strongly encourages resident comments and feedback on the updated plan, your input helps shape a safer and more resilient future for our community.

The public comment period will close on August 22, 2024.
