Commissioner Greene to Moderate Community Meeting on Bishop’s Lodge Resort Discharge Permit

Santa Fe, NM - Justin Greene, Santa Fe County Commissioner for District 1, will moderate a community meeting on Monday, June 24, 2024, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Tesuque Volunteer Fire Station, 4 Senda de Fuego, Santa Fe, NM 87506. This meeting, held in collaboration with Bishop's Lodge Resort, aims to inform residents about the resort’s discharge permit for their package wastewater treatment plant.

This meeting will provide an opportunity for the community to understand the specifics of the discharge permit application into the Tesuque creek and to voice their concerns and ask questions. Bishop’s Lodge Resort will present details about the wastewater treatment plant, on-site water recycling, and the discharge permit application submitted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). The public comment period for this permit ends on July 1, 2024.

Santa Fe County does not have the regulatory authority to approve or deny this permit, as it requires federal oversight by the USEPA. However, Santa Fe County is committed to facilitating the dissemination of information and supporting resident concerns about protecting our air, land, and water.

The New Mexico Environment Department has been invited to attend the meeting.
