Property owners can view how their property will be impacted by the preliminary map changes by going to the Flood Information Portal at http://riskmap6.com/NM/SantaFe/.
There will be a formal 90-day appeal period, which will begin after the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) publishes legal notice in the local newspapers. Please remember appeals must be based on technical data. After the appeal period ends and modifications are incorporated, revised maps should become effective in spring 2012. Please note that National Flood Insurance Program policies are based on the current effective map, but there is potential for grandfathering the current flood zone.
