County Clerk Office Granted Funds to Digitize Records

The New Mexico Historical Records Advisory Board (NMHRAB) has awarded the Santa Fe County Clerk’s Office Recording Division $5,100.00 for scanning and digitizing of microfiche records.

“We’re grateful” said Valerie Espinoza, Santa Fe County Clerk, “this funding assists us in achieving one of our top priorities - upgrading the recording technology of the Clerk’s Office to improve our ability to serve residents.”  The Recording Division of the Clerk’s Office maintains a perpetual comprehensive set of public records consisting of documents presented for recording so that any member of the public can quickly and efficiently access information to conduct their personal and business activities.  The technology offered by the digitization process provides much easier access to higher quality reproduction of original documents than any process previously available.  The digitization of these records will greatly minimize or eliminate the loss of this invaluable and irreplaceable information through deterioration and loss due to age, frequent handling, misfiling and vandalism.
