County Commissioner Daniel Mayfield will Host An Informational Fire Community Meeting June 29

Santa Fe County Commissioner Daniel Mayfield will host a community meeting to discuss fire safety and wildfire preparedness for residents of the Tesuque Village, Chupadero and Rio El Medio area on Wednesday, June 29 at 7 p.m. at the Tesuque Fire Station in Tesuque, NM, CR 73. The meeting is scheduled to last approximately two hours and is open to anyone interested in attending who would like to learn more about this imperative topic. 

Representatives from the Santa Fe National Forest will provide updated information concerning the Pacheco Wildfire as well as current Santa Fe National Forrest restrictions. Martin Vigil, the Santa Fe County Emergency Preparedness Coordinator will discuss wildfire preparedness and emergency management. Krys Nystrom from the Santa Fe County Fire Safety Division will be demonstrating the SimTable (a tool that helps visualize the spread of fires in three dimensions) and JD Damaron from the Tesuque Volunteer Fire District will notify residents of Santa Fe County Fire Department response and area fires this season.

“The Pacheco Wildfire is close to our community, residents need to be well informed and have an organized plan in the case of any future emergencies. Santa Fe County fire personnel will be on hand to give guidance to communities regarding emergency preparedness. I encourage the public to attend,” said Commissioner Daniel Mayfield.
