County Court Program Seeks Youth Interested in Being Teen Attorneys
The Santa Fe County Teen Court Program is looking for 9th, 10th or 11th graders from any high school in Santa Fe - public or private - who are interested in being trained to be an attorney at Teen Court . There will be a Teen Attorney Training on Wednesday, September 17th from 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm. This training will be led by a group of attorneys from the Santa Fe community and will take place at District Court on the corner of Grant and Catron Streets (near the downtown post office and across from the old Sweeney Center ).
During this training the students will learn about Teen Court and how it works and how to become a teen attorney. More will be learned on the job when Teen Court meets on Wednesday evenings (4:30-7:30 p.m. approximately) throughout the year.
Working at Teen Court is excellent for youth interested in becoming attorneys or wanting to learn about the court process or to enhance public speaking skills or simply to serve community service hours. It can be used as an elective credit and on a college application, too.
Any questions regarding Teen Court or this training session can be answered by Alice Sealey at 995-9555 or at http://santafecounty.org/teencourt/teen_court_about_us.php.
