County Establishes Committee to Assist with 2010 Census

To support the upcoming 2010 US Census, Santa Fe County has established the “Census 2010 Complete Count Committee” to advise and assist the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) in obtaining an accurate and complete population count for Census 2010.  The committee will use a focused, structured neighbor-to-neighbor program to increase the response rate to the Census questionnaire.  The committee will utilize the local knowledge, expertise, and influence of each member to implement a census awareness campaign in Santa Fe County.

The committee is made up of seven members, appointed by the BCC.  They will each serve until June 2010.  “Census data affects the amount of federal funds municipalities and counties receive for schools, senior centers, libraries, roads, and other public services,” said County Commissioner Virginia Vigil “It is important that everyone is counted.  This committee will boost community awareness on the importance of an accurate census count.”

The members of the committee are:

District 1: Hutch Miller
District 2: Deacon Anthony Trujillo
District 3: Connie Salazar
District 4: Robert Oldakowski
District 5: Patsy Romero
At Large: Mariano Tixier
