County Launches Transfer of Development Rights Program
The Santa Fe Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved Resolution No. 2016-33, a Resolution directing staff to initiate the Santa Fe County Transfer of Development Rights Program (TDR).
TDRs are a voluntary, incentive-based, market-driven approach to preserving agricultural land, open space and environmental resources while encouraging development in designated growth areas through the sale and purchase of transferable development rights. TDRs are part of the County’s recently adopted Sustainable Growth Management Plan policy framework and the County’s Sustainable Land Development Code (SLDC).
Santa Fe County will be holding a series of Agriculture Revitalization meetings to discuss the TDR Program and other agriculture and ranching initiatives. These meetings will be held throughout the County in each of the four Growth Management Areas to include El Norte, El Centro, Galisteo and Estancia in late April and early May. Staff will also be meeting with individuals and communities who may have an interest in the TDR Program.
