Santa Fe– July 18, 2007 – The Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners has passed a resolution in support of maintaining Los Alamos National Laboratory’s federal funding.The County is joining with other Northern New Mexico governments calling on New Mexico’s Congressional delegation to oppose the proposed budget reduction for LANL in 2008.“The Labs are an integral part of our community” said Santa Fe County Commissioner Virginia Vigil “Any reduction in federal funding would have a detrimental effect on the local economy.”The goods and services purchased by LANL represent $23 million annually in Santa Fe County alone.
