County Vehicles Required to Use Alternative Fuels
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Santa Fe – November 7, 2007 – All Santa Fe County vehicles capable of operating on an alternative fuel are now required to do so. The specific alternative fuels that can be used by many County vehicles are Ethanol 85% (E-85) and biodiesel.
This summer, the Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution to establish and implement a transportation fuel reduction and alternative fuel vehicle acquisition and use policy. The resolution was part of a BCC initiative to reduce the County’s consumption of conventional transportation fuel. “We’re committed to doing our part to reduce conventional fuel use and the accompanying greenhouse gases they cause” said County Manager Roman Abeyta.
