DWI Forfeited Vehicle Auction

Santa Fe, NM – September 17, 2012 – The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office will be auctioning vehicles seized from repeat drunk drivers on Saturday, September 22 at 9:30 a.m. The Santa Fe County DWI Vehicle Forfeiture Ordinance allows the Sheriff’s Department to seize vehicles from drivers who have been arrested for the third time and convicted of at least two previous DWI charges.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Bureau funded a Santa Fe County DWI Program campaign to enhance public awareness and knowledge of County and City vehicle forfeiture efforts. The campaign was launched in July and features: bus wraps, Johnny Boards, bar coasters, rack cards, movie trailers, newspaper ads, and radio Public Service Announcements (PSA’s). The campaign warns repeat drunk drivers that they could lose their vehicle as a result of driving drunk in Santa Fe County. The campaign is Kiss your baby goodbye. Forfeit your freedom, forfeit your car means you will go to jail and you can lose your car.

The Auction will be conducted by Bentley’s Auction. For more details please visithttp://auctionsouthwest.com/events/santa-fe-county-dwi-seizures-auction/. There will be a vehicle preview on September 21, 2012 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
