From the Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Agency - Recycle Your Christmas Tree for Free

Starting today, December 26, 2014, residents of the City of Santa Fe and Santa Fe County will be able to recycle their Christmas trees for FREE! This program, which is a joint effort by the City Environmental Services Division, the Parks Department, the Solid Waste Management Agency and several local businesses, allows the trees to be mulched rather than placed into our landfill.

Please remove the following items: lights (which can be recycled at BuRRT), ornaments, and tree stands. NOTE: Trees with Artificial Snow (flocking) on them CANNOT be mulched, these trees should be disposed of as trash. From Friday, December 26 –Monday, January 26, any resident can utilize the following locations to drop off their bare Christmas tree:

Payne’s Nursery
715 St. Michael’s Drive
304 Camino Alire

Newman’s Nursery
7501 Cerrillos Road

Franklin Miles Park
Camino Carlos Rey and Siringo Rd.

Buckman Road Recycling and Transfer Station (BuRRT)
2600 Buckman Rd.

The City of Santa Fe Parks Division will be chipping the collected trees at Franklin Miles Park, Monday - Friday, ornaments and tree stands must be removed. Tree chips will be available free of charge for City of Santa Fe residents while supplies last. City & County residents can also bring their Christmas trees to the BuRRT for free. Commercial customers will be charged normal rates. BuRRT is open Monday-Sunday from 8:00am-4:45pm daily.

In addition, if you purchased new electronic equipment (e-waste) this holiday season, all electronic items can be recycled at BuRRT. Attached please find a list of acceptable e-waste as well as some of the estimated prices for recycling. For e-waste, BuRRT weighs ALL customers in and out, charging for the NET weight of material delivered. BuRRT is open Monday through Sunday from 8:00am-4:45pm and closed on posted holidays.

Not sure your item is e-waste? Give us a call or check out www.SantaFeRecycling.orgfor a more comprehensive list of recyclable electronic devices.
