Grand Reopening Ceremony for the La Tierra Fire Station 3

Santa Fe, NM – September 28, 2011- The Santa Fe County Fire Department and Commissioner Virginia Vigil would like to invite all residents to the Grand Reopening (Wet Down) Ceremony of the La Tierra Fire Station 3 located at Arroyo Calabasas in Santa Fe on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 10 a.m. The Grand Reopening ceremony will be a traditional Wet Down ceremony, which is when firefighters anoint the new station with water from a fire truck.

The new La Tierra Station 3 serves Las Campanas, La Tierra, the 599 corridor and Tano Road areas. The remodel of the station included the addition of a day room, new kitchen and five additional sleeping areas in the sleeping quarters. In addition to the remodeled station, the district also added a new fire truck which will also be on display.

"This remodel and additional fire truck really prepares the district for years of growth and will make an enormous difference as our department and community continues to grow," said Fire Chief David Sperling.
