The Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Agency and Keep Santa Fe Beautiful are supporting America Recycles Day by hosting an HHW and E-Waste Amnesty Day on Saturday, November 11th from 9 am to 1 pm at the Buckman Road Recycling and Transfer Station (BuRRT). The Agency and KSFB are encouraging City and County residents to recycle their household hazardous waste (HHW) and electronic waste at no charge.

Examples of HHW include:

• Fluorescent Light Bulbs

Examples of E-Waste include:

This is an event for residents only. No waste from commercial or business will be accepted. Waste must be in 5-gallon or smaller containers. No 55-gallon drums will be accepted. HHW and e-waste will not be accepted at Santa Fe County’s convenience centers.

The HHW Amnesty event in conjunction with America Recycles Day will show how recycling helps preserve resources, protects the environment and benefits the economy.

During the HHW Amnesty event, green waste, tires, and trash will be assessed the normal charges. All loads must be covered and tarped. Unsecured loads will be assessed a $15 surcharge.

HHW is normally accepted at BuRRT every Friday and Saturday and e-waste is accepted every day during normal operating hours. Both of these categories cost 2½ cents a pound with a 50 cents minimum.
