Jacona Solid Waste Transfer Station Accepting Green Waste

Santa Fe, NM – June 23, 2011 – Santa Fe County would like to notify all residents that the Jacona Solid Waste Transfer Station is accepting green waste as of June 22 at 8 a.m. The transfer station was temporarily unable to accept green waste due to broken equipment.

The Jacona Transfer Station is open Wednesday through Monday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Tuesday.

Residents are also reminded that all Santa Fe County and City residents can take their green waste to the Buckman Road Recycling and Transfer Station (BuRRT), 2600 Buckman Road for FREE on Saturday, June 25, 2011 between 8 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.

Green waste includes dried leaves, grasses, weeds, tree limbs and brush. Residents can gather and clean up items around their homes that would otherwise present a fire hazard. Non flammable items such as household trash or appliances will NOT be accepted. This FREE event is sponsored by Santa Fe County and the Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Authority.
