Local Liquor Establishments Participating in County DWI Efforts

Santa Fe, NM - September 4, 2014 – Bartenders and wait staff in select Santa Fe bars and restaurants will be wearing the Santa Fe County DWI Program’s Think SaFe t-shirts and buttons while serving starting Friday September 5 through the end of the year. The “Think SaFe. Drinking and driving is never good. Ever.” message is printed on the front of the shirt and the DWI Program logo and “Don’t drink and drive” is displayed on the back of the bright blue t-shirts. “Think SaFe” is prominently displayed on the button along with the DWI logo and the message “Don’t Drink and Drive”.

“We are really pleased that the local establishments that serve liquor are assisting us in encouraging patrons to make safe choices about drinking and driving”, said Lupe Sanchez, DWI Program Coordinator.

With the start of the Fiestas on Friday, the $1 Cab Ride Home program will be available this weekend for a ride home from a bar or party where alcohol is served. The service runs Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6 from 5:30 PM to 2:30 AM.

The normal rate for the subsidized ride home is $5 per cab for 1-2 riders and $10 per cab for 3 or more and runs from 5:30 PM to 2:30 AM Friday and Saturday nights. The DWI Program offsets the first $25 of these cab rides home. Patrons are responsible for the portion of the fare over $25.
