Look for Your Notice of Value in the Mail - Assessor Announces Community Outreach Schedule

Notice of Values to be Mailed on April 1

The Santa Fe County Assessor’s Office would like to notify residents they should be receiving their Notices of Value in the mail within the next few days.  Notices of Value will be mailed on Friday, April 1, 2016. In conjunction with the mailing of the Notice of Values, the Assessor Announced the Community Outreach Schedule for 2016 (see schedule below). The outreach events allow staff to meet with residents in various locations around the County to discuss their Notice of Values.

Property owners who disagree with the value determined by the Assessor’s Office may file a petition of protest in person at the Assessor’s Office located at 102 Grant Avenue, in Santa Fe, or they may be filed through the Assessor’s website via a new online protest filing portal (Click to access new online protest filing portal).

“I’m hopeful that people will utilize our new online protest filing system. My goal is to save property owners time and avoid the difficult parking situation in the downtown area,” said Assessor Gus Martinez.

In addition to their normal office hours, Assessor’s staff will be available at various Senior and Community Centers around Santa Fe County during the month of April to assist residents with filing for benefits and exemptions, as well as filing valuation protests.

The deadline to file for exemptions, benefits, and protests is May 2, 2016.

“We understand it can be difficult for residents to find time to come into our office to ask questions or seek clarification on various exemptions and benefits. By going into the community we create more opportunities and time for residents to meet in person with us,” said County Assessor, Gus Martinez.
