March 13, 2012 BCC Meeting Summary

Santa Fe – March 15, 2012 – Below is a summary of the actions taken by the Santa Fe Board of County Commissioners (BCC). Four of the five Commissioners were present; Commissioner Vigil was excused.

The BCC approved the February 14, 2012 minutes.

The Consent Calendar was approved.
The following items are select items approved from the Consent Calendar:
• A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of Santa Fe and Santa Fe County for a Master Meter and for Wastewater collection to serve property in the County owned by the Stacy Community Property Trust, pursuant to the Water Resource Agreement
• Melissa Houser was appointed to the County Open Lands, Trails and Parks Advisory Committee (COLTPAC) as an at large member

Human Resources Department
Bernadette Salazar, Human Resources Director provided an overview of the Human Resources department, daily functions and highlighted accomplishments.

Finance Department
Teresa Martinez, Finance Director gave a presentation on Santa Fe County assessed value growth and the corresponding economic impact to the County's bonding capacity. Matters From the Commission
Recognitions
• Members of the Santa Fe County Volunteer Fire Academy 2011 Graduation class were recognized
• Winners of the Santa Fe 2012 Spelling Bee were recognized, Ulyssess Yarbrough of La Mariposa Montessori School was present to accept a Certificate of Recognition
• A proclamation honoring National Women's History Month was approved
Resolutions
• A resolution was approved recognizing March 12 – 18 as Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week
• The Commission unanimously passed a resolution directing staff to develop an MOA between the County and the Energy$mart Academy at the Santa Fe Community College to allow County-owned public housing to be used as real-world classrooms. This will serve to teach students building skills as well as making the residents' home more energy efficient.
