March 9, 2010 BCC Meeting Summary

Santa Fe – March 11, 2010– Below is a summary of the actions taken by the Santa Fe Board of County Commissioners:

Special Presentations:

· Santa Fe County Clerk Valerie Espinoza recognized the hard work and dedication of her staff

· New Mexico Wildlife Federation – Rio Grande Corridor at Buckman is a project to provide a safe and meaningful refuge within the County to experience the Rio Grande. Once the planning and restoration activities are completed, this important corridor will serve to enhance educational opportunities and provide compatible recreational opportunities.

· NCRTD – Funding challenges are jeopardizing existing routes. NCRTD staff is working on these issues

Community Funds: By unanimous [5-0] voice vote the Commission approved the following expenditures:

· $500. - Chimayo Pilgrimage, rental of portable sanitary facilities

· $350. - Cundiyo Community Center, office supplies

Staff & Elected Official items:

· Publication of title and general summary of an ordinance to increase the affordable housing down payment program up to $20,000 was approved by 5-0 voice vote

Growth Management Issues:

· An Ordinance revising the boundaries of the Village of Agua Fria Traditional Historic Community Boundary was tabled by a 5-0 voice vote

· A Resolution Authorizing Santa Fe County To Serve As A Sub-Recipient Of Federal Financial Assistance Through The Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP), National Telecommunications And Information Administration, US Department Of Commerce was unanimously [5-0] approved

County Manager Updates:

· Staff provided an overview of the ongoing work sessions regarding the County Sustainable Land Development Plan

· In an effort to streamline County government, options were developed for the Committee Project. The manager or his designee will be meeting with all County committees, boards, advisory councils, etc. to discuss the conceptual reorganization plan

· By agreement Santa Fe County purchased water rights in the amount of 38.51 acre-feet/per year for $15,000 per acre foot from Burro Alley Partners
