New Mexico Association of Counties Clerk’s Affiliate Announces New Bipartisan Leadership Slate Representing Urban and Rural Counties
Santa Fe, NM- The New Mexico Association of Counties Clerk's Affiliate is pleased to announce its new bipartisan leadership slate for the upcoming term. This diverse group of leaders brings a balance of party representation and a blend of urban and rural perspectives, ensuring the continued success and integrity of the Clerk's Affiliate.
Rosangela Ortiz has extensive elections experience in Santa Fe County, at the Election Assistance Commission, and at the New Mexico Secretary of State's Office. She has demonstrated exemplary leadership and a commitment to enhancing the electoral process. With an MBA and a strong background in public administration, Ortiz brings strategic vision and innovative thinking to the role of Chair.
Ortiz commented, “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve in this position and optimistic about the positive change we can achieve together. With experience at the state and federal levels, and now with boots on the ground experience, I am ready to develop tools and methods of collaboration to benefit us all.”
Shelly Trujillo, the current Sierra County Clerk, has a distinguished record of service and dedication to her community. She is a past Chair of the Affiliate and has been County Clerk since 2016. Shelly attended Western University. As Vice Chair, Trujillo will leverage her experience and bipartisan approach to foster collaboration and ensure the efficient operation of the Clerk's Affiliate.
Joey Dominguez, the Chief Deputy Clerk of Sandoval County, will serve as the Treasurer. Dominguez has spearheaded many new innovative programs in Sandoval County and is working on a Criminal Justice degree. His extensive experience in financial management and his commitment to transparency will be invaluable assets in maintaining the fiscal integrity of the Clerk's Affiliate.
Mike Milam, the Valencia County Clerk, will continue as Secretary of the Clerk's Affiliate. Milam has extensive real estate experience and is a certified county clerk, bringing valuable insights and experience to the team.
Outgoing Chair, retiring Union County Clerk Brenda Green, celebrated the new additions to the Clerk’s affiliate leadership team, stating, “I’m excited to be turning over the leadership of the New Mexico County Clerks Affiliate to Rosangela Ortiz as incoming Chair, and Joey Dominguez as incoming Treasurer. It has been an honor to serve as Treasurer since 2020, and as Chair the past year and a half. Both Rosangela and Joey bring fresh innovative ideas and solutions for the increasing challenges Clerks face every day. Balanced with the years of experience Shelly and Mike add to the Board, the Clerks Affiliate will continue to be successful moving forward.”
This new leadership slate reflects a bipartisan commitment to serving all New Mexicans. Its members come from both the Democratic and Republican parties and represent both urban and rural counties, bringing a wide range of perspectives and experiences to the Affiliate.
The new leadership is committed to upholding the values and mission of the New Mexico Association of Counties Clerk's Affiliate, promoting best practices, and supporting the professional development of clerks across the state.
