Following the recent approval of a General Bond by Santa Fe County voters, the County Fire Department is proceeding with a ceremonial ground breaking for a new Western Region Fire Station in Rancho Viejo in the immediate vicinity of State Highway 14 and Rancho Viejo Blvd. at approximately #31 Rancho Viejo Blvd.  The ceremony will be conducted at 11:30 am on Friday, December 19, 2008.

The station will replace an older, outdated station and will house both volunteer and paid County firefighters.  Local Santa Fe architect Marci Riskin of Riskin and Associates will design the new station, which will be constructed during the summer of 2009.
