NMDOT Begins Work March 11 On Bishops Lodge Road and Paseo de Peralta Intersection

Santa Fe – The New Mexico Department of Transportation will begin work Monday, March 11 on the intersection of Paseo de Peralta and Bishops Lodge Road/Washington Avenue in Santa Fe.

Beginning next week, Bishops Lodge Road will be closed from Paseo de Peralta to Artist Road. Pedestrians will still have access to Bishops Lodge Road but motorists will be detoured onto Murales Road and Old Taos Highway. In addition, the north half of Paseo de Peralta will be closed from Old Taos Highway to Magdalena Road.

Work will include roadway reconstruction, new signage, roadway striping, signal upgrades, lighting, and ADA compliant enhancements to sidewalks, curbs and gutters.

The Federal Highway Administration, the City of Santa Fe, and NMDOT have partnered to fund these improvements. NMDOT District Five’s Santa Fe Project Office will provide construction management and inspection, with AUI, Inc. serving as contractor. This $1.9 million project is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2013.

Motorists are urged to proceed through the work zone with caution and observe traffic control signing and reduced speed limits. News about the project will be periodically posted on NMRoads.com and on the NMDOT website, www.dot.state.nm.us.
