North Central Regional Transit District Garners Awards at NMPTA Transit Conference & Expo
Isleta Pueblo: The North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) received two state awards at the 2010 New Mexico Passenger Transportation Association (NMPTA) Transit Conference and Expo at Isleta Pueblo. The first award was from the New Mexico Department of Transportation Rail & Transit Bureau for the 2009 New Mexico Section 5316 Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC) Transit System of the Year Award. “The award was attained by the NCRTD for system efficiency and for increasing their ridership by 100%”, said David C. Harris, ACIP, Transit Manager of the New Mexico Department of Transit Rail & Transit Bureau. Harris presented the award to Josette P. Lucero, Executive Director of the North Central Regional Transit District.
A statewide bus road-eo competition was held demonstrating the knowledge, skills and abilities of transit drivers. NCRTD veteran driver, Mike Molina was awarded first place out of thirteen contestants in the van competition by Gary Manley, NMPTA Vice President. Molina will proudly represent the NCRTD and the state of New Mexico at the National competition in Long Beach, CA in May 2010.
“We’re proud to provide the citizens of North Central New Mexico with an alternative means of transportation and proudly accept this award”, said Josette Lucero, NCRTD Executive Director. She added: “This is the second year Mike Molina garnered 1st place at state competition.
