Notice of Change in Fee Structure for GIS Maps and Digital Data
The Santa Fe County Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Division has changed its fee structure for GIS-produced maps and digital GIS data in accordance with Santa Fe County Ordinance #2009-6. The price for most standard map products (maps that have already been created and can be reprinted) has increased. The price for digital GIS data has decreased.
The new fee structure created by Santa Fe County Ordinance #2009-6 brings GIS fees into compliance with state legislation regarding local government digital databases. The fees for both digital data and paper maps are based on the cost of time and materials for retrieval and reproduction, as allowed by the New Mexico Public Records Act.
Digital GIS data are stored in a variety of data formats, usually not readable by standard Windows software. In order to use these, one will need GIS or Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software. Translating the GIS data from the format used in-house to a format not used by the County is a data manipulation function, and is not a required action under the Public Records Act. Therefore, users of these data will need to translate the data into the format required by their specific GIS, CAD or other software.
