Open Burn Restrictions Lifted

Santa Fe – August 5, 2010 – Due to recent rains and an increase in precipitation the fire danger level for Santa Fe County has dropped to moderate and the open burn restrictions established with Ordinance 2010-7 have been lifted.

If residents had a permit prior to the implementation of the Open Burn Restrictions, the permit is void. A new permit must be obtained from the local fire district or the Santa Fe County Fire Prevention Division.

“Despite the recent monsoon rains, we ask that residents continue to use caution when burning,” says Deputy Chief David Sperling, “with the increase in rain, the vegetation growth is significant, residents need to obtain and follow the terms and conditions of the Open Burn Permit to avoid a wildland fire on their property.”
