Public Works Vehicle Wash Bay Transformed into Office Space for Employees
Santa Fe, NM- On June 5, 2023, the Santa Fe County Public Works Department will celebrate the transformation of a decommissioned vehicle wash bay into a contemporary two story office space that will accommodate the continued growth of Public Works. The new 3,643 square foot facility will have a culmination of twenty office spaces on the first and second floor, a shared break room/conference area, and ADA compliant restroom facilities. The remodel includes all new electrical and plumbing up to building code specification to safely consolidate the Administrative Services Department, Real Property, Roads, and Project Managers into one building. Contreras Construction, who was the contractor for the project, began the conversion on June 27, 2022 and reached substantial completion on April 15, 2023.
Project Manager Miguel Romero who oversaw the project, stated, “The benefit of having all these departments together will assist us in having a more cohesive team that can trouble shoot, host impromptu meetings, and streamline our workflow.”
Furthermore, Public Works Director Brian Snyder, emphasized, "We’re excited to have repurposed an existing building into office space that allows for all Public Works office staff to be located at the Public Works Complex and provides for more synergy when delivering projects to the Santa Fe community.
Please consider joining Santa Fe County Commissioners and Public Works Leadership on June 5th 2023 at 11:00am for a ribbon cutting celebration with refreshments and an opportunity to tour the new building.
