Rattlesnakes Sighted Near Trails and in Open Areas

Santa Fe – May 20, 2010 – Santa Fe County would like to inform residents that county crews have sighted rattlesnakes on trails and in open areas. The majority of rattlesnake sightings were while crews work on the Spur Trail (Richards Avenue and Avenida del Sur to the Rail Trail just South of the Community College). Warning signs have been posted on the trail.

“We are encouraging residents to be aware of their surroundings while walking on trails or in open areas, watch where they step and take extra precautions,” said Jeff Trujillo, Administrative Services Department.

If a resident is bit by a rattlesnake, please call 911.
