Residents Will Be Counted in Correct Location

Santa Fe – April 1, 2010 – The Census has recently received concerns from residents across the country regarding incorrect postal zip codes or addresses on their Census form. On behalf of the Census, Santa Fe County would like to let residents know they will be counted in the correct city/location regardless of the location on the 2010 Census form.

The United States Postal Service allows multiple cities to be recognized under the same zip code and mail will be correctly delivered. The 2010 Census questionnaire however, uses the barcode on the questionnaire to accurately place the count where it belongs; in the city and down to the block where you live. Part of this barcode is a 9-digit number that uniquely identifies the physical location of your housing unit so a count can be tabulated for your community.
