Revelers Rejoice! $5 Cab Ride Home on New Year’s Eve
Revelers rejoice! The Santa Fe County DWI Program is offering a subsidized $5 Cab Ride Home for one or two riders and $10 a cab for three or more on New Year’s Eve from 5:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., call 438-0000 for a Cab Ride Home.
Celebrate the New Year by NOT drinking and driving. The Santa Fe County DWI Program wants everybody to Think SaFe, don’t drink and drive. Take a Cab Ride Home instead. Ring in the New Year by ringing a cab at the end of the party. Make 2016 your year by taking charge of your safety, don’t drink and drive.
The Santa Fe County DWI Program subsidizes the Cab Ride Home Program with funds generated by the New Mexico Liquor Excise Tax. Every year thousands chose to take a cab instead of getting behind the steering wheel and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The subsidized Cab Ride Home service is offered Friday and Saturday nights and select holidays like New Year’s Eve from 5:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Crash and arrest data show this is typically when more drunk drivers are on the road. The Cab Ride Home program, along with a concerted public awareness campaign to remind people to not drink and drive, and enhanced and coordinated law enforcement activity are shown to be effective in lowering drunk driving crashes and fatalities.
