Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: County Road 42
Santa Fe – December 17, 2009 – Commissioner Mike Anaya (District 3) invites Santa Fe County residents to the Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the recently completed County Road 42 project. “After 14 years of hard work, dedication, and feedback from the community, County Road 42 is finally a safe and smooth road for the everyday commuters who use County Road 42 to commute from Galisteo, Madrid and Santa Fe,” said Anaya.
The event occurs on Monday, December 21 at 10:00 am. The ceremony will be held at the “low water crossing” by the railroad tracks. For more information or directions prior to the event contact, Jennifer Jaramillo 986-6293 or on the day of the event, Robert Martinez 992-3010
County Road 42 is approximately 9.5 miles long. In 1996, the Santa Fe County Road Advisory Committee designated the road as a critical road to pave, because it connected two state roads (NM 14 and NM 41). Since, the county has been seeking funding for this project. Due to limited funding sources, this road was paved in four phases. The funding sources include two separate General Obligation Bonds, New Mexico GRIP II funding, New Mexico Department of Transportation Local Government Road Funding and Capital Outlay funding.
