San Marcos Transfer Station Will Reopen on December 16

Santa Fe, NM – December 8, 2011 – The Santa Fe County Solid Waste Division would like notify residents that the San Marcos transfer station will reopen and resume regular business hours on Friday, December 16, 2011. The San Marcos transfer station was closed on October 1, 2011 to allow for upgrades to the facility.

San Marcos Transfer Station Hours of Operation

  • Open: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Closed: Thursday, Monday and Tuesday

Santa Fe County would like to remind residents instead of throwing broken or unwanted Christmas lights in the trash, these lights can be stripped for their valuable metals and recycled, keeping them out of the landfill. Christmas lights can be recycled for free at the San Marcos transfer station and all County transfer stations. All types of string lights are accepted, including icicles and LED (the bulbs are okay to leave on).
