Santa Fe County is seeking a citizen to serve on the Santa Fe City and County Advisory Council on Food Policy (Food Policy Council). The purpose of the Food Policy Council is to improve the availability of safe and nutritious food at reasonable prices for all residents, particularly those in need.

The Council is seeking an individual who can commit to attend regular meetings and community events, has strong community relationships, skills and knowledge related to food and farming, and above all is passionate about building a stronger food system in Santa Fe City and County.

Applicants must be actively engaged in at least one program, service, or business related to hunger and to food security including the production, processing and distribution of food. Applicants may reside anywhere within Santa Fe County. A background check will be required.

Members can expect to assist in engaging and eliciting community input and in studying and recommending policy relating to obtaining, educating, and growing food in Santa Fe County. There is currently one vacant membership position, to be appointed by the Santa Fe Board of County Commissioners.

The Food Policy Council generally holds meetings on the fourth Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. at the Kitchen Angels building, 1222 Siler Rd.

Applicants interested in serving on the Food Policy Council should submit a letter of interest, resume, conflict of interest form, and Food Policy Council questionnaire. Please call or send an email requesting questionnaire and conflict of interest form.
