Santa Fe County and City of Santa Fe Swap Water Utility Customers

Santa Fe, NM – July 3, 2013 – Santa Fe County would like to notify residents between 600 and 800 current water customers of the City of Santa Fe will be transferred to Santa Fe County and about 20 County water customers will switch to City utility. The transfer process started July 1, 2013 and will take place over the next few months, it is expected to be complete by the end of August.

Areas currently under City water utility jurisdiction that will be transferred to the County will include the Santa Fe Community College, businesses and residential developments in the Turquoise Trail district east of I-25, residents in Campo Conejos, the Santa Fe Summit (North and South), Las Campanas Estates 1 and 2, Aldea de Santa Fe, Tessera, and those residential and non-residential customers within the Agua Fria Traditional Historic Community) currently served by the City.

County customers that will become City customers are located in the Southwest Business Park east of I-25 (Plaza La Prensa) and the Mutt Nelson Road neighborhood.

The last billing to each entities respective customers will be issued by both agencies at the end of June and the affected customers can expect bills from their new provider either during the first week in August or the first week in September, depending on when exactly their actual transfer takes place.

“This is one of many important steps toward the implementation of the Annexation Agreement, both agencies are working together to minimize any impact this change may have on their customers’ daily lives,” said Patricio Guerrerortiz, County Utilities Director.

Santa Fe County has established a phone line specifically for the customer exchange, (505) 992-9870. County staff will be available to answer the line from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
