Santa Fe County Awards over $100K in Funds for Summer Youth Programs

Santa Fe, NM- June 5, 2013— The Santa Fe County Community Services Department is pleased to announce that contracts have been issued totaling $110,000 for summer programs that serve Santa Fe County Youth. The selected contractors will serve more than 600 youth ages 5 – 18. Seven contractors were selected by an independent review panel to receive funding, including Agua Fria Elementary School, the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Fe/Del Norte, Rio Grande Educational Collaborative, the Family YMCA’s Espanola Teen Center, Pojoaque Valley Schools, The New Mexico Wildlife Association and Pomegranate Studios.

Awarded funding was based on a Request for Proposals (RFP) released by the Santa Fe County Community Services Department to provide evidence based, promising and innovative programming for youth in Santa Fe County over the summer months. An independent review panel reviewed proposals and recommended funding up to $110,000. Agencies were limited to $20,000 with a 5% administrative cap; and eligible agencies were requested to describe how proposed services would impact specific health indicators in Santa Fe County including mental or physical health, obesity or substance abuse. Applicants could also choose to provide enhanced learning in their summer programs.

“The overall goal of the programming is to increase the health and wellbeing of Santa Fe County youth,” stated Rachel O’Connor, Director of Santa Fe County Community Services Department. O’Connor continued, “We are pleased that organizations throughout Santa Fe County were interested in partnering with us.”
